About this place
Set along Kasuga-dori in Saiin, Jun is an unpretentious neighborhood izakaya where diners can unwind over drinks and comforting home-style dishes. The intimate interior features a 10-seat counter alongside a single tatami seating area, creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that suits solo visitors dropping in for a drink just as well as small groups sitting down for an evening meal.
The food menu is filled with familiar, everyday fare crafted to accompany an evening drink. Alongside staples like potato salad, chilled tofu, and pan-fried gyoza, the fluffy rolled dashi omelet is a house favorite, offered in both regular and large portions. Seafood options include fragrant salt-grilled yellowtail collar and miso-marinated Spanish mackerel, complemented by more substantial meat dishes such as ginger pork and a homemade hamburg steak topped with a fried egg.
Those pairing their drinks with beer, highballs, or chuhai will find plenty of deep-fried bites, including seaweed-battered chikuwa, fried cheese wontons, squid tempura, and beef tripe tempura. For a comforting finish to the meal, the kitchen serves a nostalgic omelet rice, as well as ochazuke with a choice of salmon, pickled plum, or chirimen sansho seasoned baby dried fish.
Jun opens in the evening from 17:00 to 22:00 and is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please note that payment is cash only, so it is best to prepare yen in advance before dropping in.
